The Sovereign of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has reaffirmed his stance against war and for peace across the world.
Vatican News, the official multimedia publication platform of the Holy See, has echoed the Pope’s weekly pleas for peace on a global scale, stating that “war is always a defeat.” The Pope also remarked that the only ones who benefit from tragedies of war and violence are arms manufacturers.
Pope Francis has called for a negotiated peace between the governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, citing the trauma and hardship of children affected by the war there.
Pope Francis has also reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Palestinian People, making phone calls every night to the only Catholic Parish in the Gaza Strip for updates on the situation. The Pope stated “There are about 600 people there. And they tell me what’s going on. It’s very hard. Very, very hard. Food goes in, but they have to fight for it. It’s very hard.”
The Pope prayed for peace between Israel and Palestine, stating “that they may be two states, free and with good relations.”
